Can't help feeling we've been...
....led up the garden path !!!

Thought the whole Idea and only reason to move to a new bigger stadium was to 'compete with the big boys', 'to bring in more finances for bigger and better players'. The only thing this move has done so far is line the pockets of the Daves.

After the dismal transfers last season (especially a 5th choice striker on loan) as our marquee signing, I really thought (stupid as it would be) that they would be straight in for some players early doors.
We've moved, we've got money in the bank, sonto compete with the so called big boys, we have to do big boy transfer bids.

Sorry, had a few drinks and just getting annoyed.......

No need to apologise.

Just let it flow.

Perhaps the players we want aren't available yet. Maybe other transfers to happen to free up our targets?

Last transfer year was terrible, but the one before was excellent.

Give it time

We have to go all out for Giroud imo. I think we might struggle next season if we miss out

How about we criticise them for not doing it AFTER the window closes and they haven't done it?

We've been well and truly mugged off by those cunts.
They will never change , but if they do end up making some really good signings then I'll eat my hat.

they never deliver, Payet was a fluke, lower expectations to their level

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
I must say that I'm a bit disappointed that we obviously haven't got anyone lined up to play up front that doesn't depend on a chain of players leaving or joining other teams.

I was hoping for a Payet type deal where he was lined up before the window even opened.

I am sick of West Ham being a stalking horse to entice better offers from other clubs.

Got a frontman a club want to do a deal on? Tell them West Ham have offered fifteen million for him. Just don't mention your player has absolutely no intention of playing for us.

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
that's all I want. a couple of physically sound strikers who'll be available for the majority of the season. instead it looks like we're yet again going in to the new season with a mentalist and the balsa wood geordie

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
If the big boys want someone that bad they would bid a decent amount. Maybe if we done the same we would actually get the players we wanted. I know we're not the richest club in the land but we should be going for it if we are to 'compete'....otherwise, stay at UP and be happy with a season between 8th and 16th

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
There are two strikers we could probably get for around 23 mill, permanent signings,no fucking complications. I've mentioned these two before, but the response was 'not good enough'. Not top drawer, but much better than having the two sick notes that drag this club down.

But all we get from the midget porn distributors is fucking shit.

I feel sorry for Bilic now having a couple of owners that treat an honest professional( not the greatest manager, but at least he loves the club like us) with a total lack of respect.

Supporting West Ham is really beginning to annoy me intensely with these two fuckers in charge.

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
It's not about Champions League, a new level for us would be a few seasons not worrying about relegation. If we do get into Europe, not treating it like it's a disaster to be avoided at all cost. Treating a cup run as something to be persued not something to get out as soon as possible. It's about, having sold Payet, not buying Snodgrass as some sort of replacement. I don't think that's unreasonable short term demands for a club of our size, considering the hype
surrounding the move.

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
There are some that will say its early and to be patient. But many of us feel we were mugged off and indeed "led down the garden path" ? Its season 2 since the move and the promise of better times..

We still do not have a decent, fit striker.
We still have a slow team and midfield that cannot get or retain possession.
We lost our one noteworthy international player.
We scraped into mid table after flirting hard with relegation.
We launch a new transfer strategy of buying over priced, no resale value, over 30 players to continue to fill the squad with players with no resale value.

We increase revenues materially but apparently are still as in debt as we ever were.

Happy days, onwards and upwards with the 2Bobs.

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
I've welcomed the period of silence from Mr Sullivan
When he does finally speak, hopefully to announce a few quality signings, he should probably apologise for all the nonsense about challenging for the top 4.
We are a million miles away and those teams are moving away at a rate of knots. Chelsea are just about to spend £60m on a left back and the others are looking at offering £100m for players like Mbappa.

andyd12345 11:54 Tue Jun 27
Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
The problem with Sullivan's claims about us challenging for the top 4, is that he thought that a 2012 transfer budget for a top 4 club would be sufficient to make us challengers in 2017. The transfer market has moved beyond recognition over the last 6 years - Man City were spending £30m on Robinho and it was a signing that made waves around the world. Utd signed Tevez for £30m, Liverpool signed Torres for £25m - these were the types of fees that only the top clubs could afford.

G&S took over West Ham, and thought that if they could build us into a club that afford to spend £25m on a player then we'd be able to compete with the big boys. What they didn't factor in was that the rest of the league can afford to spend £25m on a player now, and the top clubs are spending £75/£100m

As a lot of other posters have said, were a million miles off anything like competing with the big boys. Maybe in 5 years time we'd be able to pay £75m for someone, but by then City will be spending £200m!

Re: Can't help feeling we've been...
Relax. Even though this looks exactly the same as last season and we have been linked with and have missed out on numerous players and we're already down to our 36th striker choice and the only player we have signed is fucking ancient and past it and the ones we're linked are also ancient and past it and we still have a terrible manager and the club are already drip feeding the excuses on why we wont sign anyone of note, it's ok because:

It's only June. So apparently it's all ok.
